About APO
Alpha Phi Omega (APO) is a national, co-ed service fraternity that has set the standard for college campus-based volunteerism since 1925. We strive to influence the community to have the potential to be of service and to be leaders. Our projects help young and old, campus and community, the nation and our own members.
The Jamboree for Outstanding Youngsters (JOY) is an annual carnival hosted by the APO chapter at the Colorado School of Mines. The event was originally in support Camp Fire's 'Absolutely Incredible Kid Day', but has since expanded into a community carnival aimed at making children feel incredible as well as inspiring them to follow STEM fields.
The goal for the event is to foster better adult-child relationships, re-energize children’s love for learning and interest in school, and instill an unyielding belief in each child’s future. We do this by involving many organizations from around the community to facilitate carnival games, STEM related games, and other educational themes.
